Hi Mom is a family app from ReynoldTech. One phone types (Scribe). Another shows the words large (Reader). This page is the privacy policy for the app.

What the app does

Scribe and Reader share one room in the cloud. The room holds the current message (and, if you use Pro, things like a photo). It is not a chat archive.

There is no Hi Mom login, email, or password. The Reader makes a Room Key. Anyone who has that key can join the room. Treat it like a family password.

What we store

Google Firebase (Firestore) holds the room:

• The current message text (a new Send replaces the old one; Clear empties it)
• Display settings for that room (title, theme, alerts, and similar)
• Short “last seen” timestamps so each phone can tell if the other is open
• For Pro, extra room fields (photo / clock / album state)

On each Scribe phone we also keep local settings and, for Pro, a random Scribe ID (not your name or email). That ID is how we grant Pro (including comps). It is not the Room Key.

We do not run ads. We do not sell your data. We do not put a third-party analytics or crash SDK in Hi Mom.

Optional Pro

Pro is extra features in the same app (photos, albums, clock, more themes). You can ignore them.

Photos can stay on the phones and, on the same Wi‑Fi, move over the local network. Off that network, a Scribe may link Google Drive so a photo or album can reach the Reader. That is your Google account and a folder you choose — we do not host a public photo site.

Google Play (and later the App Store) will keep their own purchase records if you ever pay for Pro. We only keep enough on our side to know whether Pro is active on that Scribe ID.

Other Google pieces

• Firebase / Firestore — the room, over HTTPS
• Google Fonts — the app’s readable typeface
• Optional Google Sign-In + Drive — only if you link Drive for Pro photos
• The phone’s keyboard microphone — dictation stays with the OS keyboard, not a Hi Mom speech server

We do not use the in-app camera to scan codes. Pairing can use the system camera on a himom:// link, or you can paste the Room Key.

What we do not collect

• No account, profile, or contact book from the app
• No history of every past message (the cloud keeps the current text)
• No precise location
• No advertising ID for ads (we do not show ads)

How long it stays

The current message stays until someone Sends again, Clears, or the Reader makes a new Room Key (the old room is then abandoned). Last-seen stamps are only useful while the phones are in that room. Uninstalling removes the app’s local data on that phone; it does not by itself wipe a room another phone still uses.

To stop sharing a room: on the Reader, make a new Room Key, and do not give the old key out.

Children

Hi Mom is for families helping a hearing-impaired adult. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not give a Room Key to a child as a toy.

• Make a new Room Key
• Unlink Google Drive (Pro) in the app / Google account
• Uninstall the app
• Email reynoldtech@gmail.com and we will help as far as the product allows (we cannot see a room unless you send the Room Key, and you should not send it in email unless you mean to). Steps: Delete your data
