Campfire Tales privacy
Tales stay on the phone. A sent copy lives on the sender's Drive.
Campfire Tales is an app from ReynoldTech. One phone makes a tale (Creator). The same app can play one (Reader). This page is the privacy policy for the app.
Operator: ReynoldTech. Questions: reynoldtech@gmail.com. Effective 1 October 2026.

What the app does
A tale stays on the Creator phone until someone sends it. Send puts a file in that person's Google Drive and shows a link. Anyone with the link can download the tale. The person who receives it does not sign in. The copy they save is theirs.
The public link looks like `https://reynoldtech.com/t/…`. That page only opens the app. This website does not store the tale or the key inside the link.
There is no Campfire Tales account, email, or password. Google sign-in is used only to put a sent tale on the sender's Drive, and to attach an optional Pro purchase.
What we store
On the phone:
- The tales you make or save
- Settings, including Keep Drive Clean
- A random id for this install, used only to check optional Pro. It is not your name or email
On the sender's Google Drive, only after they link Drive and send:
- The tale file, in a Campfire Tales folder. The app only sees files it created
In Google Firebase (Firestore), only for Pro:
- Whether Pro is active for that random id. The phone can read that record. It cannot write it
Google Play keeps its own purchase record if you buy Pro.
We do not run ads. We do not sell your data. We do not put a third-party analytics or crash SDK in Campfire Tales.
Sending
A new send is a scrambled file. The link holds what the other phone needs to open it. An older Drive link still opens. A scrambled tale opens only with its own link.
Keep Drive Clean, when on, removes a sent file from the sender's Drive after 1, 3, 7, or 30 days. It starts at 7. Cleanup runs the next time that person opens the app. It does not run while the app is closed. A tale someone already saved on their phone stays. A link that has not been opened stops working after the file is removed.
Unlink forgets the Google account on that phone. It does not delete files on Drive.
What we do not collect
- No Campfire Tales profile or contact book
- No precise location
- No advertising ID (we do not show ads)
- The website does not keep a copy of a tale or the key in its link
How long it stays
A tale on the phone stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. A Drive file stays until it is removed in the app, by Keep Drive Clean, by Clean Drive, or in Google Drive. A copy someone already saved on their phone is theirs and stays if the sender later deletes the Drive file.
Children
Campfire Tales is not directed at children under 13.
